Active and Outstanding, Talitha Achieves UPNVY Scholar’s Work 2019

YOGYAKARTA – The graduation ceremony of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta on Saturday, July 13, 2019 gave a deep impression to 788 graduates. The studies that have been taken so far have finally paid off with the awarding of a bachelor’s or master’s degree. The degree is proof of the highest achievement after taking higher education at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta.

The academic achievement of the graduates was appreciated by UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta. One form of appreciation is the awarding of the title of Karya Cendekia for 14 best alumni spread across five faculties. The recipients are alumni who are considered capable of improving their academic (hardskill) and non-academic (softskill) abilities during their studies. This achievement is a reflection of the character of graduates that UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta wants to realize.

One of the study programs whose students received the award is the Communication Science Study Program on behalf of Talitha Ardelia. Talitha is known as a student who is very active in academic and non-academic activities. She started this activity by joining UPN Television Jogja. This opportunity then encouraged Talitha to focus more and love the field of broadcasting. Interest in broadcasting, encouraged Talitha to deepen it by getting two Competency Certifications by Kominfo RI, namely the Script Writing Field and the Audio and Visual Production Field. Thanks to her perseverance in this field, she managed to achieve various achievements, namely the Second Champion for Best Editing with the Title of Video Reportage Work “Ritual Wrapped in Night Business”.

Not only stopping at broadcasting, Talitha also has a great interest in research and writing activities. Talitha’s skills were further honed by being involved as a teaching assistant for research on empowering border communities in Merauke. The development of research and writing skills successfully led Talitha to win third place in the Essay Competition “Implementation of State Defense Values in the Life of the Nation and State” National Student Scientific Week 2018 (PIMNAS FISIP) UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta and passed the Proceedings Publication with the title “The Challenge Of Community Television In Convergence Era”, Presenting Paper 1st International Indonesia Conference On Interdisciplinary Studies (IICIS) University of Lampung.

Another achievement that Talitha has made is exposure abroad in order to develop social relations and academic experience at the global level. Activities that have been followed include Passage To ASEAN Journey (Summer Program) at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) Vietnam and Mahasarakham University Thailand. In addition, Talitha also joined the de-Centralized Asian Transnational Challenges (d’CATCH) team in Indonesia (UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta).

For the award, Talitha, who is the eldest of three siblings, revealed that Karya Cendekia can encourage students to develop academic and non-academic achievements. “Through Karya Cendekia, it is very good to encourage the achievements of UPN Veteran Yogyakarta. It can be a motivation for students, not only to get a good GPA but also to be active in various activities and organizations. It is hoped that Karya Cendekia will encourage more UPN Veteran Yogyakarta alumni who are not only academically smart but also have achievements and are active in various activities,” she said recently.

The woman who has a hobby of watching movies, traveling, and cooking on the sidelines of her lecture activities has high hopes for her beloved alma mater. “My hope is that UPN Veteran Yogyakarta can facilitate students who want to participate in activities, both in information management and material. So that in the future there will be more alumni who have achievements, so that they can make the alma mater proud when they work or continue their studies tomorrow,” added the daughter of Ir. Irwan Soejanto, M.T. and Dr. Machya Astuti Dewi, M.Si.
