UPNVY Supports the Development of Sharia Industry in Indonesia

YOGYAKARTA – Currently, the development of Islamic banking in Indonesia has increased. This is proof that the national Islamic financial industry has great potential to continue to grow in supporting the economy in Indonesia.

Research support and involvement of academics in the development of the Islamic financial industry in Indonesia are considered very important amidst the increasingly fierce competition in the financial services industry.

Supporting this, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Bank BNI Syariah regarding the utilisation of Islamic banking products and services, at the UPNVY Rectorate Building on Friday (26/7).

UPNVY Rector, Mohamad Irhas Effendi, said that with the signing of the MoU, BNI Syariah can provide benefits to universities in the fields of education, research and community service.

“The scope of this collaboration is also related to Hajj and Umrah savings facilities for the academic community at UPN.” He explained after the signing.

Iwan Abdi, Director of Retail Business & BNI Syariah Network, said that the memorandum of understanding with UPNVY is expected to provide solutions for the academic community in transacting according to sharia principles and benefit both parties.

“BNI Syariah also opens opportunities for UPNVY students to be able to intern at BNI Syariah.” he said.

BNI Syariah hopes that this memorandum of understanding can be continued with a legal umbrella for further business cooperation.

On this occasion BNI Syariah handed over CSR Scholarships worth IDR 50 million, and handed over Hasanah Cards and Tap Cash which are expected to be used by the entire UPNVY academic community.
