YOGYAKARTA – The Introduction to State Defence Campus Life (PKKBN) of the Department of Communication Science of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta in 2020 raises the theme of Diaspora with the concept of Mahabarata. This online activity was held on Wednesday (23/9/2020).
PKKBN 2020 Chairperson Ruben H Sianturi explained that Diaspora means activities to move to a place to develop themselves. “It is hoped that the 2020 batch of students will not only be active in lectures but also active in committees in the campus environment,” he explained.
In line with the theme, Ruben continued, the committee carried the Mahabarata concept. “It tells the story of the Pandavas who changed kingdoms and built a new, more prosperous kingdom,” he explained. Through PKKBN 2020, the committee hopes to give an impression to new students of the Communication Science Department even though it is online.
For your information, PKKBN at the department level was held on the third day after the university and faculty levels. Activities are held online through the PKKBN UPNVY application. Specifically, for the Department of Communication Science, activities are also held through the Zoom application. The activity was filled with the introduction of the department and study program administrators, student organisations and student press institutions. At the study programme level, the Public Relations Study Programme featured a talk show with alumni and the Communication Science Study Programme discussed three concentrations that students could choose from complete with their job prospects. To liven up the atmosphere, the committee also prepared exciting games.
Separately, Head of the Communication Science Department Agung Prabowo appreciated the entire committee who had worked hard to prepare PKKBN 2020. “I see that this actually spurs student creativity through the preparation of the content presented. Because this is the first time PKKBN has been held online,” he explained.
The sincerity to impress new students, he continued, proved successful in getting positive comments. “I see the comments of new students as participants are good. I think this activity is even better than the previous PKKBN which was held offline,” Agung added.
