Two Teams of UPNYK Communication Science Students Won First and Second Place in Advertising Bootcamp 4.0 Kemenparekraf

YOGYAKARTA – Two teams of UPNYK Communication Science students won the Advertising Bootcamp 4.0 event held at Balkondes Wanurejo, Magelang, Central Java. The event is a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Google Indonesia, and the Indonesian Advertising Company Association (P3I) held from 26-29 October 2023.

The event was attended by students from various universities in Yogyakarta, Solo, and Semarang. For four days, participants were provided with intensive training from practitioners who became resource persons. This aims to improve participants’ abilities in the fields of advertising, marketing communications, and the creative industry. To test the ability of Advertising Bootcamp 4.0 participants, each participating group also participated in a competition to create a campaign strategy for the Borobudur Tourism Area.

One of the Advertising Bootcamp 4.0 participants from UPNYK, Ni Kadek Widya Aura Pramesti revealed that this Advertising Bootcamp provided a memorable experience for her.

“I got many things from the beginning of Advertising Bootcamp 4.0 to the final moment. Not only the material is very insightful, but also the experience of meeting many people who are struggling there. It’s great to be able to compete healthily between teams,” said Widya.

The UPNYK Communication Science student won Gold after passing the jury selection process. Together with her team, Anasera Agency, consisting of Raihan Afifuddin Huda, Shofura Salma Pinasthika, Naila Annisa Melinda, and Putry Ramanda Sani.

“From the beginning, we didn’t focus on being the winner, but instead focused on getting through each day well and all out. So, when we were declared the winner, the gratitude was greater because from day one we only tried to do our best and surrendered to the results,” said Widya as the Group Leader.

To note, another team that also represented Communication Science UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta in the Advertising Bootcamp 4.0 event also won this competition. Damara Anindya Putri as the head of Compass Creative Labs won the Silver rank. The second representative from UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta consisted of Alifah Nurul Hidayati, Aurelia Nora Nadhira Yovita, Ratna Puji Astuti, and Mutiara Fauziah Nur Awaliah.

Riky Riantoby as the camp leader in Advertising Bootcamp 4.0 revealed that the uniqueness of this programme lies in the proximity of the bootcamp material to the campus curriculum material.

“Indirectly, the material presented in this activity is close to the industry but still in accordance with the material from the campus. It is more applicable and prepares new insights,” he explained.

Riky advised other students who are interested in participating in this event to prepare themselves. According to him, strong will is the main capital in order to pass the selection.

“The willingness to learn, to upgrade, to prepare yourself to enter the world of work. It goes back to the willingness of the friends themselves. Opportunities are everywhere now,” he concluded.
