YOGYAKARTA – The Student Study Group (KSM) FOTKOM 401, Department of Communication Science, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta held a photography exhibition entitled PHILIA Photography Exhibition located at Leman Art House. The exhibition was held from 17 to 19 February 2023 and was open to the public. On the second day, 152 people visited the exhibition.
FOTKOM 401 itself is a KSM that is part of the Yogyakarta Student Photography forum. Apart from being a forum for gathering, FOTKOM 401 is a medium for sharing knowledge related to the world of photography such as developments and challenges due to technological advances that present photos in digital form.
Clara, one of the visitors to the exhibition, said she was very enthusiastic when she saw the photos on display. Cultural elements, natural resources, feminism and divinity are presented in the form of figurines, t-shirts, books and wall clocks. “I like street photography because it looks more spontaneous and natural,” said Clara.
PHILIA Photography Exhibition was organised to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of KSM Fotkom 401 with the theme “Appreciation”. This activity is a dedication of KSM Fotkom in its journey to date. Various activities have been inscribed by them such as participating in student photography jamborees in various parts of Indonesia such as Lampung, Makassar, Surakarta, Cirebon, Ternate, Jember, and Bali.
Not only a place to vent the spirit of art and appreciation for KSM FOTKOM 401 members, the purpose of organising this exhibition is as a forum for useful photography education in accordance with the development of trends. In addition, this photo exhibition is expected to introduce and arouse public interest in the world of photography, increase the creativity of FOTKOM 401 members, strengthen the brotherhood of FOTKOM 401 and maintain the existence of student work in the post-pandemic era.
Aryasatya Riszky Pradana as the chief executive hopes that the creativity of each member is not only in the form of figurines, but can be applied to various other mediums. In addition, this exhibition accommodates all ideas that are part of student creativity.
“Later for the next batch, KSM Fotkom will develop further, not stagnant photos using figurines and friends are expected to be able to apply their photos not only in figurines, print and writing,” concluded Dana.
