OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT Evaluation Criteria for the Oral Examination of Prospective Students in the Master of Communication Studies Program Even Semester Of 2024/2025 Batch 17

Dear Candidates,
In connection with the implementation of the oral examination as part of the admission process for the Master of Communication Studies (MIKOM) Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta, we hereby detail the evaluation elements as follows:

A. Personal Potential and Motivation

This component evaluates the readiness and motivation of the candidate, encompassing:

1. Financial Capability: Preparedness to financially support academic pursuits.
2. Job/Position Relevance: Alignment of current professional roles with Communication Studies.
3. Family Support: Degree of encouragement and support provided by the family.
4. Motivation: Intrinsic reasons for selecting the MIKOM Program.
5. Readiness for Academic Engagement: Willingness and adaptability to actively participate in the academic environment.

B. Academic Ability and Program-Specific Competence

This component assesses the academic capacity and relevance of the candidate’s expertise, including:

1. Expertise in the Field of Study: Mastery of foundational theories and concepts in Communication Studies.
2. Scientific Works/Research: Record of scholarly publications or research projects.
3. Graduation Year and Undergraduate GPA: Academic achievements during the undergraduate program.
4. Study Duration and Undergraduate Institution: Duration of study and the academic reputation of the undergraduate institution.
5. Undergraduate Institution: Evaluation of the undergraduate institution’s accreditation and academic standing.

Evaluation Method

• Each criterion will be scored with a maximum of 700 points per category (A and B).
• The final score will be calculated using the formula: 50% × (Average score of A + Average score of B).
• The maximum total score is 700 points.
