Overview of Public Relations Strategic Laboratory
The Strategic Public Relations Laboratory is a facility or unit in the Department of Communication Sciences UPN Veteran Yogyakarta that aims to develop, implement, and test communication strategies related to the field of Public Relations.
The purpose of the Public Relations Strategic Laboratory is to produce deeper insights and understanding of effective communication strategies in the field of Public Relations. By conducting research and testing in the laboratory, organisations can obtain information and data that can help them develop appropriate communication strategies, improve their image and reputation, and build good relationships with their publics.
The laboratory serves as a place to conduct experiments, research, and design communication strategies in order to gain a better understanding of how effective communication can affect the image, reputation, and relationship between an organisation and its publics.
Activities Undertaken:
- Communication strategy development: This lab can conduct research to identify target audiences, understand their needs, and design appropriate communication strategies to achieve organisational goals.
- Testing of communication messages and materials: The lab can test the effectiveness of messages, advertisements, marketing materials and other communication content to gauge the public’s reaction and perception to them. This can help organisations to refine and improve the messages delivered to the public.
- Crisis simulations and exercises: Labs can simulate crisis situations and conduct exercises to test communication responses in such situations. This helps organisations to prepare for crises and formulate appropriate communication strategies in difficult situations.
- Use of communication technology: The lab can test and develop the latest communication technologies, such as social media, digital platforms and other communication tools, to understand how best to utilise them in public relations efforts.
- Training and development of human resources: The Laboratory can organise training and development for students, to enhance their skills and knowledge in planning and executing effective communication strategies. In the future, the Laboratory will also be opened to the wider community to gain knowledge and skills in the field of public relations.

SOP FOR THE USE OF STRATEGIC PUBLIC RELATIONS LABORATORY
- Practicum participants have obtained permission from Kalab
- If you bring additional equipment, please coordinate with the Head of the Lab
- Do not bring laboratory equipment and supplies out
- If there is a technical problem, please contact the laboratory assistant and not repair it yourself
- Changing the seating arrangement must be authorised by the Head of the lab.
- The person in charge must replace damaged or missing equipment.
- After completion, the person in charge must report to the Head of the Lab.
- The Head of the Lab will give a Laboratory Liability Release Letter after checking the condition of the labora
STRATEGIC PUBLIC RELATIONS LABORATORY RULES
- The laboratory is mainly used for the purposes of supporting subject practicum.
- The hours of use are mainly on working days and hours Monday-Friday, 08.00 to 16.00 WIB. Outside of those days and hours, its use must be coordinated with the Head of Lab.
- Other activities can be carried out in the laboratory as long as they are not used for activities in point 1
- If there are concurrent activities, Head of the Lab has the right to decide who will use the laboratory with clear and rational reasons
- Every use of the laboratory must obtain permission from Kalab by filling out the available for
- Permission is submitted at least 1 (one) week before the activity is held
- The Head of Lab has the right to decide to give permission or not to give permission to use the laboratory with clear and rational reasons.
- In each activity in the Laboratory, there must be a person in charge
- Users must keep the laboratory clean
- Eating, drinking, and smoking are not allowed in the laboratory
